Canadian hip-hop group Swollen Members have a new respect for airplanes today. Their tour bus, affectionately known as “The Black Pearl,” was crushed by a train yesterday in Colorado Springs, CO.The bus got stuck on a railroad crossing just after midnight yesterday, and was unable to move when a train approached.

No one was injured in the crash, but the bus was completely destroyed. It took more than four hours for authorities to clear the scene.The band members were not on board, as Madchild, Prevail, Trey Nyce and Rob The Viking had all flown home after the last leg of their tour, just days before the accident.

Their tour manager, BJ Smith, and three remaining crew members were driving the bus to California. They narrowly escaped from the oncoming train.

“Everyone is lucky to be alive,” said Smith in a statement. “Everything happened so fast we didn’t have time to do anything but get off the bus. From the time the bus got stuck, to the second the train impacted it, was under three minutes.”

The band, which had been touring for its Armed to the Teeth album, is similarly shaken by the incident.

“The spot where the train impacted was where we would have been sleeping if we had we been on the bus,” said Prevail. “It's scary to think how fragile life can be when something like this happens."

It's been a while since I've actually had time to sit down and write something more than a few sentences for my blog so I figured it best to do it now after a long Thanksgiving weekend.

First of all I want to say THANK YOU to everyone who's downloaded "Behind the Beat." It's been up online for about a month and it's at 4155 downloads so far, so again, THANK YOU. If you haven't already downloaded it you can download it by clicking here. THANK YOU also to all the people that have posted it on their Twitter, featured it on their blogs, put it in their email blasts, etc.

I have a new album called "The Instrumental Files" which will be coming out early 2010. The music part of it has been recently finished and I've been prepping for artwork and design. When the release date of the album is announced, there will also be a brand new website to go along with it.

Between now and the time the album release is announced I will be dropping a new single, Revolt, on iTunes and Behind the Beat 2, a free compilation album of most recent music I've produced.

I'll post more info up here on the blog/website as it becomes available.
